Next week, StartEd’s EdTech Week kicks off what is shaping up to be a jam-packed October for EdTech and education-centered events. EdTech Week is from October 2nd through the 5th in New York City.
With a chock-full agenda ahead, if you’re planning to attend (and Shaq recommends you do), this edition of JOTW is designed to make the most of your time in NYC, whether you’re on the hunt for new career opportunities or scouting for talent.
Monday Monday
To kick things off, join me(!) on Monday (10/2) at 8:30am for the The Morning Walk for EdTech Founders for a walk along the High Line, one of my favorite outdoor things to do in NYC.
In the early afternoon, consider perusing the Gallery of Innovation @Relay GSE, which offers a sneak peek into the future of EdTech and a chance to network with industry leaders, investors, and entrepreneurs.
Don’t miss Monday afternoon’s Shark Tanks, which will be held at @Relay GSE and @Google. Some of my favorite friendly Sharks (investors and advisors) will be judging and providing feedback, including our very own Matthew Tower, as well as Claire Zau of GSV, Hayley Spira-Bauer of Fullmind, and Jason Young of Long Term Impact.
Make the most of the agenda
Even if your networking muscles are fatigued by the end of each day, try to find a way to rally and check out the evening’s happy hours. These are often when the best conversations and connections occur.
All the details you need can be found on the EdTech Week Agenda. Scroll to the bottom of the agenda for a comprehensive breakdown of each day. Click on events that interest you, and add them directly to your calendar.
Wednesday: EdTech Talent Roundtable Breakfast & Career / Talent Office Hours
While the first annual EdTech Week Career Summit has been called off due to space issues at Microsoft's Times Square offices, do not fear! Microsoft may have been too busy pinging Apple about buying Bing, but I talked to Steve at Nomadworks’ Times Square location, and there’s space for us to host an EdTech Talent Roundtable Breakfast at 8:15am on Weds (10/4). This is conveniently located within a block of all the main events that will be happening that day.
This will be a peer-driven discussion for founders, people managers, talent leaders, and investors to discuss challenges and questions they (or their portfolio companies) are having with hiring, retaining, and developing talent within the EdTech ecosystem.
Space is limited to 20 people, so register here ASAP:
If you cannot make this event or are a career seeker in EdTech, we’ll be hosting Career / Talent Office Hours for the remainder of the day on Weds (10/4) at Nomadworks:
