Tests/no tests seems like you can just game it — if you get good scores, submit them!

You may have some strong test-takers among the readership :)

With tests, I think it’s super easy to agree with a trend in the abstract, but gets more interesting when you make it personal. What does it mean if, as an adult, I promote test-optional or no tests at all, yet would still submit tests if I were applying to college?

There isn’t a *right* answer to this, I was just hoping to make the scenario a bit more real. I share your suspicion that there are some pretty good test-takers responding to the poll : )

Tests are good, test optional is probably fine if you are an elite college, except that they set the trend for second and third tier schools, where tests are really important

Appreciate the update this week. I am always amazed at the changes and advances in the education industry as we evolve into new models. We were stuck in the same methodologies for so many years that I wondered if we'd lost our innovative edge. But the breakout in different approaches is daunting, confusing, and exciting as hell.

Thanks David! I totally agree - we need to try lots of new things to figure out what works, but it is painful to read about the strategies that don’t work!
